FINAL — Enumclaw girls 46, Franklin 41

FINAL — Enumclaw wins, 46-41. The Hornets were led by Hitch, with 19 on 5-10FG and and 9-12FT. Koplitz had 17 on 11-14FT and 3-12FG. Jones led the Quakers with 16 on 7-15FG and 2-4FT. Howard added 11 on 8-15FT.

Up next: Hanford vs. Kennedy girls. Enumclaw plays the winner tomorrow in the quarterfinal; Franklin plays the loser.

0:14 1st OT — Koplitz at the line — whoosh. She hits both, widens Enumclaw’s lead to five — 46-41. This will probably do it for Franklin. Enumclaw fans are cheering “This game’s over.”

0:21 1st OT — Koplitz at the line again. Sinks both. 44-39 Enumclaw. Howard at the line, sinks both. 44-41. Time out Hornets.

0:48 1st OT — Koplitz at the line, goes 2-2. 43-39.

1:53 1st OT — Hitch to the line again quickly after being fouled by Jones. First no good, second one falls in. 41-39 Enumclaw.

2:33 1st OT — Hitch with three-point play makes it 40-39 Enumclaw.

3:45 1st OT — Jones powers through the line for two. 39-37 Franklin.

0.4 seconds 4th qtr — Howard makes second shot, tying score at 37. Franklin fans are going nuts! Into OT we go.

0.4 seconds 4th qtr — Franklin’s Howard fouled AGAIN. Enumclaw fans boo up a storm. Howard goes to the line and misses, meaning the best she can do now is tie the score. Time out.

0:17 4th qtr — Jones to the line, misses. 36-35 Franklin. Hitch to the line — this is critical — Franklin fans literally screaming — basket good! We’re tied at 36. Second attempt — nothing but net. Enumclaw side erupts. Enumclaw leads 37-36.

0:18 4th qtr — Franklin recovers the ball after a foul in Enumclaw territory. Basket no good, rebounded by Enumclaw — boy, can the Franklin fans make noise! — recovered by Williams of Franklin…

1:27 4th qtr — Howard at the line again, sinks 2-2. This is clutch — she just gave Franklin a 36-35 lead.

2:44 4th qtr — A sure basket went awry when Franklin’s Lewis rushed it a little bit. Rebounded twice by the Quakers, but still no basket. Time out, Franklin. Enumclaw leads by one, 35-34.

4:06 4th qtr — Hitch at the line, sinks two clutch shots. Lead swings back to Enumclaw, 35-34.

4:47 4th qtr — Another two from Mortimer. Long Enumclaw pass goes way off the mark (not the first time this has happened in this game). Hornet shot misses, rebounded by Williams. 34-33 Franklin.

5:54 4th qtr — Hitch at the line, goes 2-2 despite a lot of noise from Franklin fans. Jones responds with a nice two-pointer, efficiently going around the Hornet defender. Score 33-32 Enumclaw.

6:44 4th qtr — Hitch get the first score of the quarter, wresting the lead back for the Hornets, 31-30. Howard fouled, misses both shots.

End of the 3rd — Still Franklin 30, Enumclaw 29. Franklin’s missed its last five shooting attempts.

3:08 3rd qtr — But Enumclaw’s not giving up either. Hitch basket makes it 29-27, but Jones is sent to the line and delivers, giving Franklin a 30-29 lead.

4:45 3rd qtr — Big three — the game’s first — from Franklin’s Howard ties it at 25. Franklin is back in this.

6:05 3rd qtr — Koplitz makes it 25-21. Traveling violation on Enumclaw’s Hitch robs her of a basket.

7:13 3rd qtr — Mortimer and Jones each put up two quick baskets to begin the second half. Suddenly Franklin’s within two again, 23-21.

Halftime — At the half, it’s Enumclaw 23, Franklin 17. No. 3 Franklin can’t be happy about trailing unranked Enumclaw by six. Jones leads the Quakers with seven points, but she’s got three fouls.

For Enumclaw, Koplitz and Hitch have combined for 15 of the Hornets’s 23. Ramberg has pulled down four rebounds. Nobody on either team has hit a three. Franklin’s shooting percentage for this half is 21.7 percent to Enumclaw’s 30.4 percent. The Quakers have also recorded 18 turnovers.

0:47 2nd qtr — Enumclaw’s Sayler makes it 23-15. Jones responds with two of her own — 23-17.

Update from the boys game — At the half, it’s Seattle Prep 42, Lakes 35.

1:40 2nd qtr — More Howard at the line, good for two. Hitch gas a nice basket to make it 19-15 Enumclaw.

2:23 2nd qtr — Franklin’s Carol Howard goes 1-2 at the line to make it 16-13. Enumclaw is doing a good job not letting Franklin go through the lane, and the Quakers are missing a lot of shots as a result.

3:10 2nd qtr — Jones at the line, goes 1-2. Koplitz at the line goes 2-2. 16-12 Enumclaw.

5:06 2nd quarter — Koplitz basket makes it 14-11 Enumclaw.

5:48 2nd qtr — Another two-point exchange. This time it’s Franklin’s Chardonnae Mortimer and Enumclaw’s Hitch. Hitch also goes 1-2 at the line to give the Hornets a one-point lead, 12-11.

7:29 2nd qtr — Enumclaw’s Mara Koplitz at the free throw line to make it 9-9 after Williams went 1-2 at the line to begin the second quarter.

End of 1st qtr — Six-footer Kayla Williams gives Franklin its first points in more than five minutes with a three-point play. Jones lays another in at the buzzer. Score tied at 8.

1:33 1st qtr — Franklin’s Janee Lewis, the only freshman on a senior-laden team, gets a nice steal, but Franklin can’t convert it to a basket. The shots just aren’t falling for them so far.

3:06 1st qtr — Jaynae Sayler makes it 5-3 Enumclaw. Under pressure, Franklin’s Jones fouls Enumclaw to give Hornets possession. Chloe Ramberg takes advantage. 7-3 Enumclaw.

3:51 1st qtr — A lot of back and forth between these two teams, but few baskets. Still 3-2.

5:49 1st qtr — Franklin gets on the board early thanks to a layup from Jocelyn Jones. Enumclaw’s Heather Hitich responds. Score 3-2 Enumclaw.

Pregame — The game hasn’t even started, but Franklin fans are cheering like they’re up by 20. Most of the Franklin faithful are sporting green and black, including a few guys with t-shirts featuring large “Hello, my name is Franklin” nametags. Franklin players are wearing black and white camo t-shirts.
