Live game blog — Meadowdale boys vs. Franklin

FINAL: Franklin 58, Meadowdale 37.

:54.2 left, 4th: Adams hits two free throws, and if it wasn’t over before, it is now. Franklin leads 56-37.

2:50 left, 4th:Not a lot of change here. Meadowdale cut the lead to 54-37, but time’s pretty much run out on the Mavs. Looks like Franklin’s going to tomorrow’s championship game.

GIRLS UPDATE: Shadle Park leads Holy Names 32-23 early in the fourth.

End 3rd Q: Franklin 48, Meadowdale 28. A very b alanced game for the Quakers, whose leading scorer, Chris Holmes, has 12. Four others have at least 7.

:58.9 left, 3rd: Timeout Franklin. The Quakers still lead 44-26, but Meadowdale has scored the past four points. Those baskets ended a 20-4 Franklin run.

3:06 left, 3rd: Frankl,in is ahead a full 20 points now, 42-22, after a Richardson jumper, and it looks like no good end in sight for the Mavs.

4:37 left, 3rd: Franklin is starting to roll. It has scored 12 points so far this quarter, and the Quakers have a 36-22 lead.

GIRLS UPDATE: Shadle Park 19, Holy Names 15 at halftime.

7:36 left, 3rd Q: Franklin puts up four quick points, on a Siva free throw and a Vonchae Richardson 3-pointer. Now it’s 28-18 Meadowdale. Big stretch coming for Meadowdale. Can they stop the Quakers from running away?

HALFTIME STATS: Franklin is shooting 45.5 percent, but the Quakers are getting outrebounded 17-10 and have turned it over 7 times. Meadowdale has been led by 10 points from big man Connor Hamlett.

HALFTIME: Franklin 24, Meadowdale 18. Franklin got a steal and a layup from Chris Holmes with nine seconds left to go up six. But Meadowdale has definitely done a great job of uglying this one up, great job slowing it down, and the Mavericks are sticking right with the Quakers.

One note on Franklin: forward Jesse Hopson, a starter and a part of Franklin’s eight-man rotation, is on crutches with an ankle injury. It looks doubtful that he’ll come back, but that’s only an observation.

1:44 left, 2nd: Nice inbound play for Frnanklin, which leads 22-18.

3:31 left, 2nd: Meadowdale is 4-of-9 at the free-throw line so far. This isn’t the best game to lose your stroke. But Hamlett makes a shot inside and it’s 20-16 Franklin now.

4:50 left, 2nd: Chris Holmes goes up for a putback and puts Franklin ahead 20-14. That’s how Franklin counters size, with great athletic rebounders.

6:07 left, 2nd: Meadowdale timeout after a pair of Franklin baskets. First Siva took a steal the other way for a layup. Then Siva fed Adams for a jump shot. 16-12 Franklin.

End 1st Q: Anrio Adams makes a three-pointer as the quarter expires, and the score is tied at 12 after one. A lot of things going right for Meadowdale right now, though.

1:13 left, 1st: Connor Hamlett makes a shot inside, and Meadowdale leads 12-9.

2:35 left, 1st: Franklin’s Peyton Siva just hung in the air for what seems like an eternity before laying in a basket. Then he comes back and makes

3:31 left, 1st: Kris Larson makes one of two free throws. It’s 10-5.

4:23 left, 1st quarter: Great start for Meadowdale, which leads 9-5 early. The Mavs are doing two things well so far: rebounding and shooting.
