WesCo track meet to honor Duane Lewis

A WesCo track and field meet at Lake Stevens High School on Thursday is being dubbed the “Hall of Fame Meet” in honor of Washington State Track and Field Coaches Hall of Fame inductee Duane Lewis of Lynnwood.

Lewis, who was inducted in January, has been coaching the Royals since the school opened in 1971. He has won a couple state titles along the way (girls in 1990, boys in 1994) and has seen multiple athletes win individual state titles.

There will be a short ceremony during the meet.

Multiple coaches involved in the meet have connections to LHS and Lewis. Jackson coach Eric Hruschka was in the Lynnwood class of 1984. Lake Stevens coach Jeff Page was in the Lynnwood class of 1973. Also, Granite Falls coach Ernie Goshorn coached many years at Lynnwood with Lewis — his old college teammate at Seattle Pacific.
