Thursday Morning Stars

Before I get started with the three stars, let me point out that Wednesday was a night aboslutely filled with incredible performances. I count at least a dozen kids who could be stars on any other day. As always, free to list the top efforts you saw last night in the comments:

1. Jeff Brigham, Jefferson, baseball. Brigham brought Kentwood undefeated season to a screeching halt, by no-hitting the Conks in a five-inning 11-0 victory. And that wasn’t even the biggest upset of the day (more on that later today).

2. Softball no-hitters. Kori Seidlitz, no stranger here, pitched a seven-inning perfect game for Mountlake Terrace against Shorecrest, striking out 17. Archbishop Murphy’s Brittany Allen struck out 18 in no-hitting Cedarcrest. Mt. Rainier’s Sonny Dorhofer no-hit Everegreen in five innings. The same for Kentlake’s Sarah Beckler, who no-hit Kent-Meridian in five.

3. Kentlake’s second-inning sluggers, baseball. The Falcons, expected state contenders off to a slow start, definitely didn’t start slow on Wednesday. After putting up five runs in the first, the Falcons scored 19 in the second of a 24-2 victory. Miles Nagel had a grand slam, and Ryan Esping and Brandon Cinkovich each added home runs.
