The latest news and analysis on high-school sports around the Seattle area

Saturday morning stars

1. Hat-trick heroes. As a soccer fan, I have to start with the guys on the pitch. Shorecrest’s Glenn Paden and Beamer’s Ugo Okoli each found the back of the net three times in big wins. Also, a quick shoutout to Issaquah goalkeeper Stephen Jacobson who made 13 saves in a 2-0 win against Bainbridge for his fifth shutout of the year.

2. Almost perfect. Bonney Lake’s Caitlin Colvin was untouchable on the mound against Sumner on Friday. Only an error kept Colvin from a perfect game, but she was otherwise flawless for seven innings and finished with 19 strikeouts. Runner-up was Kennedy’s Jessica Lewis, who threw a complete game two-hitter against Mount Rainier, had 14 K’s and helped her own cause at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a game-winning two-run double in the 6th inning.

3. Flexing the guns. Sumner’s Brad Falk went 3-for-4 with two home-runs and 3 RBI in a 11-1 win against Bonney Lake. Consideration also to Lynnwood’s Ryan Desimone (4-foor-4, three runs, three RBI) as the Royals are having a nice season in 2009. Bellevue had three guys go 3-for-4 (Chris Andrews, Jake Collier, Jeff Melby) in a win against Bothell.
