State softball rankings — week 3

Now that most of the spring breaks are over, we should start seeing more softball action (especially in KingCo 4A, which I am very curious about). Some teams didn’t play at all last week.

In Class 4A, Eastmont is out and Walla Walla in after the Blue Devils swept a doubleheader, ending Eastmont’s perfect start. Walla Walla’s lone loss was against a pretty good Southridge team.

Mountain View of Vancouver also suffered its first loss, 1-0 to Prairie, and drops from No. 6 to No. 10.

In 3A, Holy Names earnes the No. 2 spot after beating Bainbridge, 2-1. The Cougars’ only loss has been to Rogers of Puyallup, 1-0 (Rogers is No. 6 in the 4A poll this week). Bonney Lake and Kennedy (the defending champ) are the last of the unbeatens. Kennedy inches up to No. 6 — I don’t think their schedule has been very tough.

Everett, Sedro-Woolley and Lynnwood each lost out of classification (S-W to a good Burlington-Edison team), but only Lynnwood tumbles out of the top-10. The newcomer is East Valley of Spokane, which owes all four losses to 4A teams and is coming off a 10-6 win over No. 7 Shadle Park.

I’m all ears (or eyes) if you have some nominations for 3A teams that should be getting a closer look.
