Tuesday Morning Stars

This winter-like weather limited yesterday’s prep contests, but there were still some noteworthy performances.

1. Archbishop Murphy baseball team. The Wildcats, ranked No. 9 in Class 2A, remained unbeaten with a 16-1 win over Sulton. Kevin Waldron picked up the five-inning victory, scattering four hits and strike out 10. Keanan Albright went 3-for-4, scored three runs and drove in two. Jake Hines was 2-for-2 with a double and triple and 2RBI, while Taylor Baehn was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

2. Softball dandies. Lindbergh’s Casey Routos pitched a four-inning perfect game that was called due to rain (but coaches and umpires agreed it was official) as the Eagles beat Highline 15-0. She struck out eight. Inglemoor’s Rosie Matsumoto allowed a leadoff single, then shut down Roosevelt the rest of the way in a 10-0 victory. Only two other batters reached base (one on a walk, one on an error).

3.Evergreen boys soccer team. Fresh off their upset of Kennedy, the Wolverines recorded another 1-0 victory, this one over Tyee. Kevin Ventura scored the lone goal off an assist from Fabian Valencia in the 33rd minute and Andrew Parker netted the shutout.
