WIAA Hall of Fame luncheon today

If you’ve never attended one of the WIAA’s Hall of Fame luncheons, you’re missing out.

But you’ve got another chance today, as the 2009 class is inducted at the Spirit of Washington Event Center in Renton. The luncheon begins at noon.

Among the eight people honored are former Mariners first baseman John Olerud, a product of Interlake and WSU. Also being inducted are Chris Henderson (former Cascade and UCLA soccer star) and Lisa Raschkow Johnson (basketball standout at Auburn and UW).. Here is a link to the WIAA website that includes great bios on all three: .

You’ll find the list of current Hall of Fame members there as well. The speeches at the luncheons are often humorous and touching. I’m getting ready to head over there now, and if you get the chance, you should, too. I believe tickets are available at the door.
