Final state softball rankings

So, here are the final state softball rankings. The top-10 teams in both 4A and 3A are state qualifiers, as well as those listed among the “others”.

Does it mean this is how I expect the tournaments to play out (at least 1-4, since those are the only trophies)? Not necessarily. I haven’t taken into consideration the brackets. For instance, in 4A Rogers of Puyallup and Walla Walla, who finish 1-2 in my rankings, are in the same half of the bracket and would meet in the semifinals, at best.

I gave credit to the teams that won their respective district tournaments (Kelso over Mountain View of Vancouver, for instance) or finished higher than a previously ranked team (Bishop Blanchet over Holy Names).

We’ll talk more about the tournament later this week. For now, let me know what you think.

Class 4A

1, Rogers (Puyallup) 22-3

2, Walla Walla 24-2

3, Mountlake Terrace 18-4
