Class 3A state soccer championship game thread — Shorecrest v. West Valley (Yakima)

FINAL: Shorecrest wins the Class 3A state championship 5-2 in a dominant display. The Scots led 5-0 after 54 minutes and were able to give a lot of players some playing time.

79th minute: GOAL! West Valley is fairly awarded a penalty kick in the second-to-last minute of the game. It’s converted by senior Salvador Pulido.

54th minute: GOAL! The Rams get a consolation goal for their efforts as Connor Nathe scores on a long-range effort for West Valley.

45th minute: GOAL! Novack added his second of the day on an assist from Ian Adams. 5-0 already ties the 3A record for margin of victory in a final. The all-time record is 6-0 set at the 1A level in 2004.

HALFTIME: Eli Blauser headed in a fourth for Shorecrest just before halftime to give the Scots a commanding lead at the break.

21st minute: GOAL! Jeremy Novack puts the Scots up 3-0 on a rebound after his first shot in front of the goal was saved.

12th minute: GOAL! Jonathan Cho doubles the lead with a breakaway goal of his won. The Scots look very sharp and lead 2-0.

6th minute: GOAL! Scots freshman Ian Adams scored in the 6th minute for Shorecrest when he raced behind the Rams defense and poked a shot past the onrushing goalkeeper into the net.

3rd minute: A trademark long throw-in by Nick Terrel bounces off a West Valley player’s head and nearly goes into the goal, denied only by the post.

Pregame: The No. 2 Scots take on the fifth-ranked Rams. Shorecrest has won 18 straight since Michael Harris became eligible and the Rams have won 14 straight.
