Bellevue’s Aaron Bright commits to Stanford

Bellevue point guard Aaron Bright, who should be one of the area’s top seniors next season, gave his commitment to Stanford coach Johnny Dawkins today.

“The combination of the basketball program and the academics were perfect,” said Bright, who was the KingCo 2A/3A most valuable player last season.

He said Dawkins has recruited him to play point guard, a position he successfully transitioned to last season. He made The Seattle Times’ all-area team and the Associated Press Class 3A all-state team.

Washington State, Harvard and most of the West Coast Conference was recruiting Bright, but he said it was never a difficult decision.

“I loved the coaching staff at Stanford,” Bright said.
