Look for Graham-Kapowsin in our 4A state volleyball rankings on Monday.
I took that wait-and-see approach to the Eagles this season, although I’d heard they are really good. They verified that with a 3-1 victory over seventh-ranked Auburn Riverside last night, despite the 21 kills and 7 blocks by AR’s Brooke Bray.
It will be fun to see what happens when G-K faces No. 2 Curtis in a South Puget Sound League South Division match on Sept. 21. Meanwhile, Curtis plays No. 3 Issaquah tonight and has Auburn Riverside next Tuesday.
Bishop Blanchet, No. 2 in 3A, took care of business with a 3-0 victory over No. 8 Meadowdale. One score I was a bit surprised by was Auburn Mountainview’s 3-2 victory over White River (that was originally recorded wrong on our website, as a 3-2 White River win). I nearly had Mountainview in our 3A rankings this week, and that match was closer than I thought it would be. Props to White River, which has obviously is making progress.
Other interesting matches tonight include Lakes at Gig Harbor, Skyline at Olympia, Marysville-Pilchuck at Monroe (along with a couple o ther WesCo matches) and Mount Si at Mercer Island.
More volleyball talk on Monday, with those new rankings. Your input is appreciated.
