Jackson star running back sidelined

Riley Carr, the leading rusher for No. 4 Jackson, is out of tonight’s Wesco South home clash against Mountlake Terrace.

He injured his left knee in Jackson’s previous game and had an MRI this week, according to Jackson offensive coordinator Alex Barashkoff (whom I spoke with up here in the press box prior to kickoff). Barashkoff wasn’t sure if Carr will be be available for next week’s season finale against Cascade in what could decide the division title.

Carr’s replacement, sophomore Trai Patrick, has scored both of the Timberwolves’ touchdowns as they lead 17-14 at halftime on Homecoming.

Also out for Jackson is starting center Walker Evans, who Barashkoff said dislocated his patella in Wednesday’s practice. Senior all-league selection Jake White slid over from his right guard spot to take Evans’ place, and Preston Werner got the nod at right guard.

Defensive switches for Jackson included White taking Carr’s spot at linebacker and Trevor Hegeberg replacing White at defensive tackle.

In addition, Jackson is also missing wideout Derrick Grayson for disciplinary reasons, Barashkoff said.
