Looks like some pretty good news about Kentwood basketball star Josh Smith.
I just spoke with coach Michael Angelidis and he said the 6-foot-10 UCLA recruit probably will be out “for about a week” with that partially torn patellar tendon suffered in Tuesday’s loss to top-ranked Federal Way. He said Smith will see his doctor again early next week.
“We’ll take it from there,” Angelidis said.
In the meantime, Smith is wearing a brace on his right knee, but is not on crutches, according to Angelidis.
The 10th-ranked Conquerors (1-1) will be without him for tonight’s game with Auburn Riverside and probably Tuesday’s game against Jefferson, but possibly could return for the Dec. 18 showdown with No. 9 Kentridge.
