Joshua Smith might play tonight

Joshua Smith might be in the lineup tonight when the Kentwood boys play at Tahoma, according to his mother, Tracey.

Tracey Smith replied to an e-mail I sent her today asking when he might be cleared to play. Her response was “Either tonight or the next game.”

Kentwood’s next game is Thursday at home against Kent-Meridian.

Smith, a 6-foot-10 senior who was ranked as the No. 1 high-school center in the country by some recruiting services coming into the season, sufferred a partially torn patellar tendon in the Conquerors’ second game of the season, which they lost to top-ranked Federal Way for a 1-1 start.

Kentwood is 3-5 without Smith.

We don’t have anyone at that game, but will try to keep an eye out for the box score.

I’m at Beamer tonight for what should be a good game with No. 9 Decatur.
