SPSL 3A-Seamount sub-district basketball pairings nearly set

The SPSL 3A-Seamount sub-district basketball tournaments for boys and girls begin next week, although there is a little unfinished business on the Seamount side (and possibly with the SPSL 3A girls).

The top five teams from each league are involved and nine of the 10 will advance to the West Central 3A District tourney.

On the boys side, there will be a tiebreaker between Renton and Evergreen next Wednesday at Lindbergh (7 p.m.) to decide the fourth and fifth Seamount seeds (they tied for fourth at 10-6 and split during the regular season. Despite the three-way tie for the Seamount title (all 12-4), no tiebreaker games were necessary to determine the seeding (based on head-to-head), So Kennedy is No. 1, Foster No. 2 and Mount Rainier No 3.

Here is the sub-district boys schedule with all games to be played at Bonney Lake:

Friday, Feb. 19

Game #1 Mount Rainier (Sea. #3) vs. Franklin Pierce (SPSL #3), 5:30 p.m.

Winner to WCD as S/S #5

Loser to WCD as S/S #6

Game #2 Evergreen/Renton winner (Sea. #4) vs. Clover Park (SPSL #4), 7:30 p.m.

Winner to WCD as S/S #7

Loser to WCD as S/S #8

Saturday, Feb. 20

Game #3 Evergreen/Renton loser (Sea. #5) vs. Bonney Lake (SPSL #5), 3:30 p.m.

Winner to WCD as S/S #9

Loser out

Game #4 Foster (Sea. #2) vs. Lakes (SPSL #2), 5:30 p.m.

Winner to WCD as S/S #3

Loser to WCD as S/S #4

Game #5 Kennedy (Sea. #1) vs. Enumclaw (SPSL #1), 7:30 p.m.

Winner to WCD as S/S #1

Loser to WCD as S/S #2

You can find the WCD boys bracket here.

On the girls side, Foster and Hazen play a loser-out game Wednesday at Lindbergh (5 p.m.) to determine the Seamount’s fifth and final seed.

There is one possible tie in SPSL 3A, if White River (13-2, 16-3) should lose tonight against Enumclaw (3-12, 3-16). Records would indicate that is unlikely, but you never know. If White River loses, Bonney Lake (13-3, 16-4) would earn a share of the title and the two would play off for seeding purposes (they split during the regular season),

So, here is the sub-district girls schedule, with all games at Foster:

Thursday, Feb. 18

Game #1 Lakes (SPSL #4) vs. Tyee (Sea. #4), 5:30 p.m.
