Between spring break and some winter-like weather last week, we didn’t have a lot of softball games played.
Therefore, there aren’t a lot of changes in this week’s state rankings.
In fact, we have just two changes — both the result of one game, Everett’s 1-0 victory over previously unbeaten Stanwood. Stanwood slips from No. 4 to No. 7 in Class 4A, while Everett inches up from No. 6 to No. 5 in 3A.
Several school districts have their spring breaks this week, so it will be a while yet before we get into the full swing of things (and heaven knows what the weather is going to do).
One big game this week I’ll have my eye on is the Big Nine showdown Tuesday between No. 2 Walla Walla and No. 3 Southridge. Both are unbeaten and chomping at the bit to get back in action, I’m betting, after more than a week off.
Then circle your calendar on April 14 — that’s when Kelso (No. 1 in 4A) takes on Union (No. 1 in 3A).
