Queens of the Hardwood — one more All Star game Saturday

If you thought the All Star basketball games concluded with the Washington-Oregon series last Saturday, you were wrong.

There is one more coming up this Saturday, the sixth annual Queens of the Hardwood at Franklin High School. Below is the press release we received:

The day will begin at 10:30 AM with one of two expedition AAU games. There will be a 7th and 8th grade games between teams from Rotary Boys and Girls Club and the Y.E.A. programs.

There will also be three skills competitions for the All Stars. A 2-Ball competition will put 4 teams of 2 players in a race against the clock to score as many points as possible from various spots on the floor worth different point values. There will be a 3 point shoot out and we will be bringing back the old school competition of Hot Shot.

The All Stars will hit the floor at 2:30 p.m., and the day will conclude with the presentation of the Scholar/Athlete Award and the Queens of the Hardwood All-Star Game MVP.

Queens of the Harwood executive Melvin Newton said, “What a great day this will be to honor these seniors. They will have one more chance to display their skills and be able to play along or against each other.”

Admission for the entire day will be $5 adults, $3 students with ASB, children 12-under free and $3 senior citizens.

Sponsors of the 6th Annual Queens of the Hardwood All Star Game — *Dr. Sako, DDS John3:16; *Ballard Sports Medicine; * The Marvin Thomas Memorial Scholarship Fund.
