I’ll be here at Kent Memorial Park all day for the South Puget Sound League 4A baseball tournament and will provide updates on each game.
We were expecting calls with results from Friday’s loser-out games, but didn’t get any, so I was able to track down a little information.
In Friday’s first game, Oakley Murphy smacked a walk-off home run in the eighth inning to lift Jefferson to a 2-1 victory over Graham-Kapowsin. Mitch McQueen picked up the win with one inning of relief after seven strong innings by Jeff Brigham, who struck out 15 and allowed just two hits, both infield dribblers.
In the second game, Kentlake beat Curtis, 4-2. Doug Christie pitched a complete game and scattered six hits. Shortstop Ryan Shelton went 3-for-4 and score two runs for the Falcons, while Austin Pernell was 2-for-4 with a run score.
Jefferson and Kentlake play another loser-out game today at 1 p.m. for the league’s seventh and final berth to the West Central 4A District tournament.
The other three games today are strictly for seeding.
Tahoma currently leads Emerald Ridge 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth in the game to decide the fifth and sixth seeds.
