Sunday’s spring high-school highlights

Here is a look back at the high-school sports action from Saturday night, compiled by Brady Henderson.


Terin Beck homered twice and drove in five runs in Federal Way’s 14-2 win against Rogers. Brett Evans and TJ Horsfall each added home runs.

Payden Cawley-Lamb was 4-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in White River’s 16-12 win against Highline.

Michael Anastasi doubled, tripled and drove in four runs. Trevor Lubking hit a solo home run. Ryan Brett and Derick Lewis both homered for Highline.

Matty Rohrback and Hayden McNabb each homered in Shorecrest’s 5-3 win against Ferndale. Rohrback pitched a complete game and allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and eight strikeouts.

Grant Gillman went 3-4 with a triple, three RBI and three runs scored in Tacoma Baptist’s 14-3 win against Quilcene. Teammate Dalton Wintersole doubled, tripled, drove in two runs and scored three times.

Brandon Bancroft hit a solo home run for Quilcene.

Andrew Suh and Taylor Brennan each homered in Meadowdale’s 3-2 win against Sedro-Woolley.

Sam Triece allowed one hit and two earned runs in seven innings for the win. He struck out 12 and walked five.

Jared Casper hit a two-run home run in Tahoma’s 3-1 win against Emerald Ridge.

— Glacier Peak’s Tanner May homered in a 12-3 win against Lynnwood.

— Jackson’s Nick Kiel threw a complete-game shutout and allowed just three hits in a 7-0 win against Lynnwood.

Aaron Brooks struck out 13 and allowed five hits in seven shutout innings as Mountlake Terrace blanked Monroe, 4-0. It was Brooks’ third shutout and fifth complete game this season.

Austin Johnson doubled and hit a solo home run.

— Kamiak’s Andrew Groves allowed an earned run on three hits in a complete-game, 2-1 win against Shorewood. He struck out six and walked one to improve his record to 9-0 this season.

Jarod Houghtaling was 2-3 with an RBI. Shorewood’s run came on a solo homer by Robbie Rusch.

Zachary Laws doubled, homered, drove in four runs, scored three and stole four bases in Mount Rainier Lutheran’s 14-0 win against North Sound Christian. He allowed one hit and struck out 15 in six scoreless innings.

Laws also went 4-4 with a solo homer in an 8-4 loss to Lummi.

Brian Mcafee and Kevin Knapp each homered in Bothell’s 9-7 win against Newport.

— Puyallup’s 10-6 win against Kentwood included a combined five solo home runs.

Sean Rehon and Matt Becker went deep for Puyallup. Austin Voth, Bryant VanEngelenburg and Taylor White all homered for Kentwood.

Jake Hines hit a solo home run as Archbishop Murphy beat Lynden, 6-3.

Boys soccer:

George Karadimas scored two goals in Squalicum’s 4-3, shootout win against Archbishop Murphy.

Eli Blauser scored two goals in Shorecrest’s 6-0 win against Lynnwood. Eric Baker and Sam Schober split the shutout.

Jackson Miller had two goals and an assist in Glacier Peak’s 7-0 win against Sedro-Woolley. Brian Holguin had a goal and two assists. Andrew Weakly and Jesus Mendoza split the shutout.

— Bellingham’s Matt Sanchez scored two goals in a 5-1 win against South Whidbey.

Will O’Neil and Elias Weston both scored two goals as Vashon Island beat Port Townsend, 4-1.

Taylor Haakon scored a pair of goals in Sehome’s 4-0 win against Burlington-Edison. Logan Barnett and Joshua Pepe split the shutout.
