KingCo 4A baseball tournament updates

IMG00056.jpg

9:42 p.m.: Redmond hit three home runs, rallying to beat Skyline, 6-2, for the KingCo 4A title.

Peter Hendron, Michael Conforto and Dylan Davis all homered for the Mustangs (18-5), who earn a trip to the 4A state tournament.

Skyline scored two runs off Davis in the first. But the junior settled down and didn’t give up another. He pitch five innings and struck out six. He only allowed one runner to second base after the first inning — he reached on an error.

Sean Penberthy and Nate Litka both drove in runs for the Spartans (11-11), who advance to play host to Evergreen on Saturday.

6:02 p.m.: Bothell is one of the hottest teams in KingCo 4A, winning nine of its last 10 games.

The Cougars (17-7) beat Lake Washington, 5-1, in a loser-out game at Woodinville High School on Thursday and will advance to play at Kelso in a winner-to-state, loser-out game on Saturday.

Evan Hudson picked up the win, giving up one run on three hits over six innings. He struck out four.

Kevin Knapp was 2 for 3 with an RBI single and a run scored, while Kevin McShane had a two-RBI double in the fifth.

There isn’t a great placed to sit here, so I won’t be able to post another update until after the title game. But I will get something up as soon as I file my game story. Check for in-game updates on Twitter @masonkelley.
