High-school boys soccer rankings — Final

In a little less than two weeks, these rankings will be long forgotten.

The only No. 1 teams that will matter will be the ones that win state championships.

Nevertheless, as soccer’s best surviving teams gear up for two weeks and four rounds of state playoffs, all of the staging is set for that final run.

I’m sticking with Stadium as the No. 1 team in Class 4A despite the Tigers’ first loss of the season last week – a 3-2 shootout defeat to Gig Harbor.

The bottom line is Gig Harbor (13-3-2) might be the state’s best team that’s NOT still playing soccer. But Federal Way eliminated the Tides with a 1-0 overtime win in the district playoffs last week.

Also gone is defending 4A state champion South Kitsap, which got knocked out by Beamer.

Not a bad showing by the South Puget Sound League in head-to-head battles against the mighty Narrows League at districts.

The first round of the state playoffs are Tuesday night and two dandy matchups are in 4A with No. 2 Lake Stevens taking on No. 4 Bellarmine in Snohomish and No. 3 Evergreen of Vancouver hosting No. 5 Beamer.

Another intriguing game is No. 1 Stadium playing No. 10 Garfield at Seattle Memorial Stadium. Can the Bulldogs stun the Tigers?

Top-ranked and defending state champion Shorecrest has cruised into the Class 3A state playoffs with a 19-0 record and will open with No. 8 Yelm Tuesday night at Shoreline Stadium.

The only other remaining teams in this state that haven’t lost are No. 2 Camas, No. 3 Mount Rainier and No. 4 Capital.

Entering the 3A rankings at No. 10 despite an 11-7-0 record is perennial power West Valley of Yakima.

The Rams are getting hot at the right time with eight victories in their past nine games, including a 2-0 victory over Sunnyside for the regional championship.

Here are The Seattle Times Class 4A and 3A FINAL state rankings:
