The rain finally washed out the seeding games of the West Central District softball tournaments.

The semifinalists in 4A and 3A will be considered co-champions.

Here are the seedings to state, based on power rankings:

1 – Kentlake

2 – Puyallup

3 – Rogers

4 – Stadium

5 – Jefferson

6 – Emerald Ridge

1 – Franklin Pierce

2 – Bonney Lake

3 – Union

4 – Capital

5 – Camas, Prairie, Mount Rainier, Enumclaw.

1 – Steilacoom

2 – North Mason

I’ll have a story up this evening.

The final 3A state qualifiers are in (these were loser-out, winner-to-state):

Camas 9, Port Angeles 4

Prairie 5, Peninsula 3

Mount Rainier 6, Kennedy Catholic 1

Enumclaw 3, Auburn Mountainview 1

It’s raining pretty good right now, so we’ll see if we get these placing games in. Stay tuned.

After some early rain, the weather is cooperating again for the West Centrtal District softball tournaments here at the Sprinker Recreation Center in Tacoma.

I’ll continue to update at the top throughout the day.

In Class 4A, the final two state qualifiers are Jefferson and Emerald Ridge. Both won a pair of loser-out games today to advance. Jefferson eliminated Beamer (8-7) and Central Kitsap (10-5). Emerald Ridge — which came in as the 10th and final seed out of the South Puget Sound League — knocked out Tahoma (10-5) and South Kitsap (13-2).

SK was the No. 1 seed out of the Narrows and ranked 10th in the state.

The semifinals are scheduled for 3:15 (Puyallup vs. Rogers and Stadium vs. Kentlake), with the game for third and sixth places (semifinal losers) at 5 p.m. and the championship game at 6:45 p.m.

In 3A, Bonney Lake, Union, Capital and Franklin Pierce have clinched state berths. Capital upset third-ranked Prairie, 3-1.

Eight teams (including Prairie) remain in contention for the remaining four state berths.

Kennedy and Mount Rainier are squaring off right now in a loser-out, winner-to-state game. Same for Auburn Mountainview and Enumclaw.
