Tahoma’s Derek Eager earned a trip to the World Junior Championships held in Moncton, Canada July 19-25.

Eager claimed his spot on the team after an impressive performance in the javelin at the USATF Senior/National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

Heading into the final round of the competition, Eager was in third place behind Sam Crouser (Gresham High School in Gresham, Ore.), the Gatorade National Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year.

On Eager’s final attempt he jumped into second place with a throw of 230-6. He also took 11th in the discus with a throw of 174-10.
