Meadowdale grad Eric Marty playing for another title

Former Meadowdale quarterback Eric Marty is playing for another championship in Europe.

Here is the story I wrote during football season when Marty was working with the Mavericks as an assistant coach. Click here.

Last year, Marty, who also played quarterback for Chapman University, led the Bolzano Giants to the championship in the Italian Football League. This year he has quarterbacked the Danube Dragons (Austrian Football League) to the their first appearance in the title game since 1997.

Marty threw four touchdown passes in the semifinals, helping the Dragons knock off the Vienna Vikings, 31-24.

The Dragons are set to play the Innsbruck Raiders in the title game at 10 a.m. PDT on July 9. You can check out the game live here.

This season Marty has thrown for 1,339 yards, 15 touchdowns and one interception during over the six-game AFL regular season. In three Eurobowl games, Marty completed 76.5 percent of his passes for 618 yards, nine touchdowns and a pick.

Marty is set to rejoin the Mavericks as an assistant this season.
