GIG HARBOR – Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Gig Harbor’s 6-foot-7, 260-pound tight end, announced Monday he will attend Washington.
“We’re going to go get Rose Bowls and National Championships,” Seferian-Jenkins. “I firmly believe that.”
Heading into the announcement at the Gig Harbor Yacht Club, Seferian-Jenkins had narrowed his list to Washington and Texas, crossing off programs like Florida, LSU and California.
He stepped to the podium and pulled a Huskies hat and a UW football out of a silver bag.
People began arriving more than an hour before the announcement with Seferian-Jenkins waiting around in a black, short-sleeved, button-down shirt and gray slacks with Stanwood’s Dexter Charles, a University of Washington recruit.
Rated as the top tight end in the country by Rivals.com, Seferian-Jenkins caught 62 passes for 1,152 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior.
Seferian-Jenkins is considered one of the top-two prospects in the state with Skyline wide receiver Kasen Williams, who will make his college selection later this month.
