Tune-up time is over for Skyline.
Now the fun begins.
Skyline, ranked No. 1 in Class 4A, finished the preseason with a perfect 5-0 record against five respectable opponents, including a 4-0 victory over Kennedy Catholic last week.
Skyline will now tackle the mighty KingCo, starting with a Tuesday night home match against the Newport Knights.
The KingCo has produced the past four 4A state champions with Skyline winning the past two titles after Eastlake won it in 2007 and Woodinville in 2006.
Three KingCo teams are in the Top 10 with Skyline at No. 1, Issaquah at No. 3 and Woodinville at No. 10.
It was a relatively quiet week for the state’s best 4A teams, with the exception of Chiawana, which lost overtime games to Moses Lake and Eisenhower to move out of the Top 10.
In 3A, Camas, which started out the season No. 1, lost for the second time in as many weeks to drop from No. 2 to No. 9.
Two Metro League teams have showed their strength so far with Seattle Prep at No. 4 and Holy Names surging into the Top 10 at No. 6.
Seattle Prep has survived a tough schedule so far, while Holy Names has shut out four of five opponents and beaten two KingCo 4A programs.
