Class 4A and 3A state football rankings — Week 4

There was quite a bit of movement in Class 4A this week.

After Auburn struggled against Tahoma on Thursday, I decided that there could be a change at the top of the rankings if both Skyline and Curtis played well.

The Spartans took care of business against Issaquah and seem to be getting better and better each week, making big strides on defense and up front along the line.

They replaced a lot of key positions and those newcomers are finding their comfort zone faster than expected.

After Curtis blanked a very good Graham-Kapowsin team — ranked No. 10 last week — I decided to bump Skyline up to No. 1, while the Vikings come in at No. 2.

Auburn is now No. 3.

Issaquah drops to No. 6.

After Skyview’s loss to Camas and Graham-Kapowsin’s loss to Curtis, two new teams jump into the rankings. At 4-0, Kentwood makes its first appearance in the rankings at No. 9, and Union returns to the rankings at No. 10.

In other developments on the bubble, I’ve heard good things about Chiawana so they join the teams to watch. Chiawana and No. 8 Richland play this Friday. The other team making a strong case for a spot in the top 10 is Lake Stevens. The Vikings remain unbeaten and could crack the top 10 soon.

In Class 3A, the rankings remain the same this week. Glacier Peak was the only team that tumbled, falling to Lake City (Idaho).
