Kari Luttinen, a 5-foot-10 senior at Seattle Prep, has made an oral commitment to play basketball at the University of Portland, according to Prep coach Michelle Hall.
“She felt that Portland was an amazing fit for her as a student and as a basketball player,” Hall said.
Luttinen averaged 19.4 points per game and went off four 40 in a trophy game against Kennedy Catholic at the Class 3A state tournament last March, leading the Panthers to a fourth-place finish. She made 16 (of 20) free throws in that game and 34 (of 45) in four tounament games, both records.
Her 40 points were just two shy of the tournament scoring record held by Sheila Lambert,
