Class 4A and 3A state football rankings — Week 6

The rankings in both Class 4A and 3A remain unchanged for the most part.

There was one main question in each classification.

In 4A, what happens to Auburn after losing back-to-back games? The Trojans, ranked No. 1 earlier in the season, tumbled to No. 8 after falling to Kentwood two weeks ago.

Following Auburn’s 41-14 loss to Curtis, I dropped the Trojans out of the rankings for now. I still think they have a very good team and are capable of a long playoff run.

I went back and forth when trying to figure out which school should jump into the rankings. There are plenty of teams with impressive resumes.

Even though Kentlake lost – 30-28 against No. 5 Kentwood – I moved the Falcons into the rankings. They play Auburn this week, giving the Trojans a chance to play their way back into the rankings and Kentlake a chance to validate its spot in the top 10.

In 3A, should Juanita and Mount Spokane fall after losses to highly ranked teams?

The Rebels lost to top-ranked Bellevue by a touchdown, 21-14, while the Wildcats fell to Ferris, ranked No. 4 in 4A, 35-14.

Because of the way they played against the Wolverines, the Rebels remain No. 4. Mount Spokane drops one spot to No. 6.
