As the weeks progress in the girls soccer season, it’s becoming more difficult to keep teams out of the state rankings.
For the first time this season, I feel that at least a half dozen teams left out of this week’s state rankings probably should be in.
But there are only 20 spots in the Class 4A and 3A rankings.
So teams like Bellarmine Prep, Richland and Kentlake in 4A and Auburn Mountainview, Hazen and Lakeside in 3A need to know that it’s simply a numbers game.
It’s nothing personal.
Todd Beamer slipped into the 4A rankings this week. Newcomers in 3A are Bishop Blanchet and Kelso.
Kentwood got bumped out of the Top 10 in 4A for the first time this season after going 0-2-1 in the past three games. The competition in the South Puget Sound League North Division is fierce, however.
Bishop Blanchet has won five of its past six games, including three in a row, against some tough Metro League competition.
