Two prominent Kennedy Catholic athletes have announced their oral college commitments, according to athletic director Bob Bourgette.
Aminah Williams, a coveted basketball recruit, picked Washington over WSU, Arizona, ASU and Cal. Rebekah Kurle, an outstanding soccer player, opted for Portland over Washington, Oregon and Cal.
Williams was a sophomore on the Kennedy team that won the 3A state basketball title in 2009. Last season, as a 6-foot junior, she averaged 15 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game as Kennedy placed seventh in the state tournament.
Kurle was the Seamount League’s player of the year last season and earned a spot on The Seattle Times’ all-area team for the second straight season, scoring 28 goals and dishing off 12 assists. This season, she has 10 goals and four assists for the Lancers, who are ranked No. 2 in Class 3A.
