Meadowdale took care of the stickiest possibility on Thursday for the WesCo 3A playoff scenarios. The Mavericks victory over Oak Harbor meant the league avoided a 5-way tie for second behind Glacier Peak.
All three WesCo games that had an affect on the playoff standings were moved from Friday to Thursday. Glacier Peak’s victory over Everett and Mountlake Terrace’s win over Lynnwood will necessitate a 3-way playoff to be played at Shoreline Stadium on Saturday at 5 p.m.
The playoff will be a series of Kansas City tie-breaker games. Everett will face Mountlake Terrace in the first contest, with the winner to face Shorecrest for the No. 3 seed to the district playoff round.
The third game to determine the No. 4 seed will follow, but only if the teams have yet to play. Therefore, if Shorecrest beats whichever team survives Game 1, the loser of Game 2 will automatically be the fourth seed since that team already will have beaten the loser of Game 1.
Meadowdale, with its win Thursday, is the No. 2 seed and will host the SPSL No. 2 team – the loser of Friday’s Lakes at Bonney Lake contest.
