Defending 2A girls soccer champ Archbishop Murphy opened defense of their title with a 4-0 first-round victory over North Kitsap on Tuesday.
The Wildcats earned the state first-round home game, and a little revenge, with a 3-0 victory over Lakewood in the Northwest District title game on Saturday. The Wildcats had previously had lost twice to Lakewood in shootouts this season.
That sent Lakewood into the state bracket as the No. 2 district seed, where the Cougars lost on the road in overtime to Klahowya, 1-0.
Archbishop Murphy advances to host a quarterfinal game against Interlake on Saturday. Game time is set for Noon at Goddard Stadium on the campus of Mariner High School.
