Karen Towslee has two special reasons for her interest in the 4A and 3A state volleyball tournaments this week — two daughters.
That is not very uncommon. But what makes her situation unique is that her two daughters attend and play for different schools.
Danielle Towslee is listed as a 6-foot senior at Woodinville, which has advance to the 4A quarterfinals today (Thursday). Karen says Danielle is actually 6-1.
Katherine is a 6-1 freshman at Eastside Catholic, which should be one of the contenders for the 3A tournament, which starts Friday.
According to Karen, Katherine was looking for “a smaller academic environment” and wanted to play high-school volleyball this season. Woodinville is just a three-year high school.
“Eastside Catholic has been a great fit for her,” Karen said.
Danielle is a team captain at Woodinville. She had eight kills and a team-high five blocks in the opening-round victory over Stadium today (Thursday). A 3.86 student (with AP classes), she will play at Lafayette College next season.
Woodinville and Eastside Catholic actually played each other earlier this season, with little sister’s team getting the victory.
Karen had to bring an extensive wardrobe to Kennewick in support of both teams.
“I will be theone wearing the kelly green on Thursday and the orange on Friday,” she said with reference to the school colors for Woodinville and Eastside Cathoic, respectively.
