Woodinville catcher Katie Engelbrecht has signed a letter of intent with Boise State.

BOISE, Idaho-Boise State softball coach Erin Thorpe announced, Thursday, Katie Engelbrecht of Woodinville, Wash., signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Broncos. Engelbrecht, currently a senior at Woodinville High School, is a catcher.
“Katie is a great overall athlete and young lady,” Thorpe said. “She is strong, has good speed, a great personality and is a very strong vocal leader on the field. She will be a great addition to our team both offensively and as a member of our catching staff and we are expecting great things from her.”
Engelbrecht has lettered each of her first two years at Woodinville, a three-year high school, under head coach Mark Leander. She has guided the Falcons to a second place finish in the 4A KingCo Conference in 2009, and a conference title in 2010, with identical 16-3 records. Woodinville finished 15-1 in league play both seasons, and took second place in districts.
Engelbrecht hit .400 as a sophomore, starting all 16 games she played. She added 16 RBI and 14 stolen bases as she was named second team all-conference and second team all-region at catcher. In her first season at the high school level she led her team in on-base percentage at .603. As a junior, Engelbrecht was named first team all-state behind the plate after collecting 30 base hits in 16 games to hit better than .500 on the season. She hit six doubles and drove in 24 runs. In 2010 she led the league in RBI and hits, and was in top three in batting average.
As a member of Absolute Blast the past three seasons, Engelbrecht is coached by Eric Bolstad. She has been a starter all three years at catcher and outfield. As a member of Absolute Blasé, Engelbrecht has participated in the 14A ASA National Championship in 2008, the 16A ASA National Championship is 2009 and the 18 Gold ASA National Championship in 2010. Engelbrecht previously spent three years as a member of the Woodinville Reign, coached by Kevin Parks.
Engelbrecht is also a three-year letterwinner in basketball at Woodinville.
Engelbrecht bats and throws right handed. Her hobbies include music, writing and football. She plans to major in education and Spanish at Boise State.
