The Edmonds-Woodway girls basketball team played storied Oregon City tough in the final game of the Northwest All-Stars Shootout at Pierce College Saturday before falling, 57-55.
The Warriors (7-3) trailed by eight with about five minutes left in the game before pulling even at 51 on a Madeline Kasper three-pointer just inside two minutes to go. Oregon City (3-0), which has won 11 big-school state titles, made 6 of 8 free throws down the stretch to nail down the victory.
Two of E-W’s three losses have been to Oregon teams and the other came against sixth-ranked Auburn Riverside.
Sydney Donaldson led the Warriors with 21 points, while Ashley Albertson added 14 points and 12 boards. Kasper finished with 10 points. Angela Woods, who averages 17.1 points per game, was ill and struggled offensively (3 of 12), finishing with eight points.
Johanna Paine topped the Pioneers with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
