Kennedy Catholic girls hold off White River

Kennedy Catholic passed its first real test of the girls basketball season with a 58-54 victory over White River in the Northwest All-Stars Shootout at Pierce College Saturday.

I’ve got some writing duties, so will keep this short, but wanted to give you a quick update. The Williams sisters combined for 33 points and 18 rebounds. Aminah, the senior who has signed with Washington, had 17 points, 11 boards, seven steals and three assists. Mayah, a freshman who comes off the bench, had a career-high 16 points to go along with seven rebounds and six steas.

Senior Allie Madison, playing her first game of the season (disciplinary issue), chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds.

White River, which lost its starting point guard to an ACL earlier this month, committed 35 turnovers. Brooke Paulson led the Hornets with 18 points, while Rani Wiegand had 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The final game of the day is coming up with Edmonds-Woodway facing Oregon City.
