I’m here at the 40th annual Bellevue College Holiday High-School Boys Basketball Tournament.
I’ll have updates all day. I will also post something later tonight, recapping all of the boys basketball tournament action, catching up teams playing both in Washington and out of state.
Glacier Peak 64, Renton 46
Senior center Payton Pervier finished with 17 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots, leading the Grizzlies (6-2) past the Indians.
Tanner Southard had 14 points and seven assists, while Zach Pederson added 11 points.
Justin Bennett led the Indians (3-5) with 15 points and five rebounds.
Glacier Peak will play the winner of Eastside Catholic-Inglemoor at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. That game just tipped off.
Inglemoor 53, Eastside Catholic 48
Senior Eric Bryant (18 points) and Andy Nwaelele (14 points, six rebounds) helped the Vikings (6-2) hold of the Crusaders, who kept the game close, weathering a 9-0 run to open the third quarter.
Matt Callans scored 13 of his 17 points — three threes — in the second half, to keep Eastside Catholic (2-5) close. Joey Schreiber finished with 15 points for the Crusaders.
Bear Creek 64, Oak Harbor 51
Lucas Peterson, one of two Bear Creek seniors, hit a three-quarter court three-pointer to beat the first-half buzzer, the most impressive play in what was an impressive win for the Grizzlies.
Peterson finished with 11 points, while Ryan Strandin led Bear Creek (6-1) with 17 points and five rebounds in the 2B school’s win over the 3A Wildcats (2-6). The two schools combined to hit 18 three-pointers in the game.
Drew Washington hit five threes for Oak Harbor.
Sammamish 64, South Kitsap 40
George Valle scored a game-high 23 points and added five assists as Sammamish, ranked No. 9 in 3A cruised past South Kitsap.
The Totems (7-1) will play Bear Creek in the semifinals at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. The Wolves play Oak Harbor in a consolation game at 1:45 p.m.
John Steinberg added eight points, four rebounds and six assists, while Sami Jarjour had nine points and six rebounds for Sammamish.
