Gilkey headed to Washington University (St. Louis)

Woodinville’s Melissa Gilkey, a 6-foot-1 senior, has recently made an oral commitment to play basketball at Washingon University in St. Louis, according to coach Scott Bullock.

Gilkey, also an All-KingCo 4A volleyball player, put together her best game of the season on Wednesday to power the Falcons to a 65-43 victory over previously unbeaten Eastlake, which is ranked No. 10. She came in averaging 12.6 points per game with a season high of 21.

Against Eastlake, she went 12-for-14 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line, also contributing eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Washington University is the defending Division III national champion.
