Madi Schreyer, one of the state’s top up-and-coming pitchers, has made an oral commitment to accept a softball scholarship from Stanford for the fall of 2013, according to her mother, Chantelle.
It’s big news for any softball player, but even bigger considering Madi is just as sophomore at Woodinville High School.
Terry Wood wrote this story about Madi prior to the 2010 high-school season.
Chantelle said Madi also is on a “short list” for the Canadian Junior National team (she has dual citizenship). Final tryouts will be this June and July in British Columbia. If selected, she would be part of the team that is scheduled to travel to South Africa in December to play in the ISF Junior Women’s Championships.
We’ll be following up on Madi this summer. First, of course, I’ll be anxious to see how she pitches for the Falcons this spring. She was 5-0 in KingCo play last season with one save, sharing time with then-senior Maria Gau (6-1). Madi struck out 50 of the 100 batters she faced and carried a 0.76 earned run average.
