Ballard to retire jersey of former basketball star Sue Stimac Verduin

Sue Stimac Verduin will become the first Ballard High School female basketball player to have her jersey retired when she is honored this Friday and Saturday.

Stimac is a 1978 Ballard graduate who went on to become an All-American at Seattle University, where her jersey has already been retired.

Ballard’s jersey retirement ceremony will be Friday between the Beavers’ girls and boys games with Roosevelt. The girls game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., with the boys game set for 8 p.m.

A dinner and additional program for Stimac Verduin follows Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Ballard Commons, with proceeds to benefet the Ballard girls basketball program.
