Here’s the latest update from Saturday’s Assist for Life girls basketball event at Steilacoom High School:
Still reeling from the knee injury point guard Blair Brady suffered Friday night, the fourth-ranked Issaquah Eagles could not keep up with No. 7 Bellarmine Prep for more than nine minutes and went down hard, 65-37.
I’ll have a full acount in my story for Sunday’s paper, which I need to get to now, so have to cut this short.
We’ll know next week about the extent of the injury to Brady, the Eagles’ do-everything senior who has signed with Idaho State. She was definitely missed Saturday and Issaquah lost another starter less than three minutes into the game when an official said she threw a punch, which no one else I talked to could verify.
This is not to take anything away from talented Bellarmine, which got 19 points from Sarah Hartwell and 18 from Simmone Potts.
