Franklin girls hold off Foster, despite Hill’s 32 points

Janee Lewis, daughter of former Husky great Greg Lewis, led a trio of Franklin players in double figures as the Quakers held off Foster, 60-55, in the second game of Monday’s ‘I Have a Dream’ Matchup at Foster.

The host Bulldogs (9-5) fell despite the 32 points and 16 rebounds from Sahara Hill.

Lewis, a junior, hit the clinching free throws with 6.2 seconds to play for Franklin (6-6), which won its fifth in a row since losing to River Ridge, which is ranked No. 2 in Class 2A. Qiara Norwood scored 12 of her 14 points in the first quarter and added nine rebounds.

Patrice Toston, in just her second game as she returns from a broken hand, added 11 points.

As they continue to get healther (another player is expected back this week), the 3A Quakers hope to be a factor in the Metro League.

Foster, which had a four-game win streak snapped, could be a factor in the 2A playoffs. I was impressed with Hill, a 5-foot-10 junior who showed some impressive moves under the basket and also stepped out to hit a three..

Bianca Benevodas added 12 points for the Bulldogs, but only two other players scored.
