Holy Names girls race past Kennedy in battle of unbeatens

What was supposed to be the dream game of the ‘I Have a Dream’ Matchup Saturday turned into a nightmare for Kennedy Catholic.

The third-ranked Lancers were blitzed 69-50 No. 1 Holy Names, which led 23-9 after one quarter. This was a battle of unbeatens that showed how good the 12-0 Cougars really are.

I’ve got some writing duties I need to get to, so you’ll be able to find my complete account on the web later this evening and in Tuesday’s newspaper.

I’ll give you a few highlights — Sophie Reichelt led Holy Names with 20 points (including a couple of big threes in the opening period), nine rebounds and four steals, while Claire Conricode added a season-high 16 points (three threes) and Jasmine McCleave added 12.

Kennedy was led by Jasmine Lemon with 17 and Ali Madison with 15. The much anticipated matchup between Erika Johnson (Cal commit) and Aminah Williams (UW) didn’t amount to much. Johnson had nine pionts and Williams just six.

The Lancers (13-1) had some good moments, but were hurt by poor shooting (18 of 64) and 17 turnovers.
