I got word today from Issaquah girls basketball coach Kathy Gibson that senior guard Blaire Brady indeed suffered a torn ACL last Friday, test results revealed Monday. Her season is over and she will have surgery in about two weeks, according to Gibson.
Brady, who has signed with Idaho State, is one of the area’s top all-around guards and I’ve had several people comment on what a great person she is, too.
It’s always sad to see these types of injuries, and there has been another recent rash of them over the past year.
It’s a definite blow to fourth-ranked Issaquah, which lost badly to No. 7 Bellarmine Prep on Saturday — less than 24 hours after the injury occurred. But the Eagles bounced back to post an important KingCo 4A victory over Inglemoor Monday night, thanks largely to the 26 points of Maddey Pflaumer.
The girls rankings will be updated later this afternoon, and you’ll see some movement, so be sure to check back.
