Jim Perkins, who had been an assistant coach at Kennedy Catholic for the past 12 years, is the new head softball coach at West Seattle.
He said the move “seemed like a logical step forward in my fastpitch career.”
West Seattle won the Metro Sound Division last season, but failed to qualify for the state tournament. The Wildcats made their first-ever state appearance in fastpich in 2009.
Perkins was on Dino Josie’s staff when Kennedy won back-to-back 3A state titles in 2007 and ’08. His assistant at West Seattle will be Deavanni Spadoni, who was the senior catcher on that 2007 title team.
