When Austin Seferian-Jenkins was thinking about the perfect place to celebrate signing day, he settled on a location that always sparks fond memories.
He picked the Ram Restaurant, right on the water in Tacoma.
“Me and my grandpa and my mom would always come here and have lunch,” said Seferian-Jenkins after signing with Washington on Wednesday. “It’s just something we always did together. We would always do it and then he passed away. It was just special to be able to do it here in a place that I’ll always remember because of a person who was so influential in my life and who I am today.
“I feel like he’s here today a little.”
I wrote about Seferian-Jenkins’ bond with his grandfather, Edward Seferian, before the season. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound tight end’s decision to celebrate at the Ram was a touching tribute on a big day for the Gig Harbor senior.
Seferian-Jenkins said he is still on track to enroll early at Washington so he can participate in spring practice.
