Postseason gymnastics competition starts this weekend

Postseason gymnastics competition begins this weekend, with league meets taking place at Ballard (KingCo 4A), Mount Rainier (SPSL 4A and 3A/2A and Seamount), Lake Washington (KingCo 3A/2A) and Bainbridge (Metro).

Woodinville, winner of four straight 4A state titles, and Auburn Mountainview (in 3A/2A) are the defending state champions. Teams this weekend are competing for berths in district meets one week later, when state berths will be up for grabs.

Based on regular-season results, the race for the 4A state crown appears to be wide open. In 3A/2A, Auburn Mountainview looks like a contender to repeat.

Here are the top five regular-season scores in each classification (the top dozen in 4A all-around) reported to The Times in 2010-11:
