Boys high-school hoops highlights from Thursday night

Here is my story from Mercer Island’s 53-48 victory over Bellevue in the KingCo 3A title game. Click here.

Metro League tournament

Rainier Beach 77, Seattle Prep 74 (OT)

— Rainier Beach freshman point guard Naim Ladd started his first game of the season and scored 28 points. He hit five three-pointers.

Because of the rash of injuries the Vikings have endured other players have had to step up, which should help them with Hikeem Stewart, Kadeem Stewart and Joseph Stroud return — Lavell White also missed Thursday’s game — which I’m hearing will be for Rainier Beach’s next game.

Senior Michael Middlebrooks had seven points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocks and sophomore guard Marques Davis had 29 points, five assists and hit three three-pointers

Mitch Brewe led Seattle Prep with 29 points.

Chief Sealth 52, Lakeside 30

Keon Lewis and Abdi Mohamed each scored 11 points to lead the Seahawks.

Eastside Catholic 43, West Seattle 39

Joey Schreiber finished with 15 and Skyler White added 12 for Eastside Catholic.

Northwest 3A District tournament

Glacier Peak 64, Oak Harbor 37

Jack Bonner scored a game-high 18 points and Dylan Vargas added 17 for the Grizzlies.

I was told last night that Payton Pervier, Glacier Peak’s senior center, has quit the team. I wasn’t provided with many details, but the Grizzlies will miss his presence in the middle.

Mount Vernon 64, Shorecrest 54

Junior Chibuogwu had a big night for Shorecrest, scoring a game-high 32 points, but it wasn’t enough.

Meadowdale 59, Sedro-Woolley 43

Spencer Linton scored 16 points and Tyce Tallman added 12 for the Mavericks.

Northwest 3A District Tournament

Edmonds-Woodway 67, Stanwood 58

— Edmonds-Woodway’s Josh Jordan scored 23, while Cannen Roberson led Stanwood with 24.

Kamiak 57, Cascade 52

— Kamiak had four players — Anthony Berg (15), Nicholas Kussman (14), Imaan Vicente (11) and JD Blacksmith (10) finish in double figures.

SPSL 4A North tiebreaker

Auburn 58, Kentridge 54

— Kentridge senior Gary Bell finished with 27 points, but it wasn’t enough. Kevin Henderson scored 15 for the Trojans.

SPSL 4A South tiebreaker

Puyallup 82, Rogers 59

Jay Balmer finished with 27 points as Puyallup defeated Rogers. Derek Jobe scored 25 for the Rams.
